Eelco Brand (1969- , Netherlands)

Eelco brand shows the actions of free will, which humans and nature have, through creating supernatural scenes. He is a young artist, passionate about the use of digital technology and on the subject of nature, and with his passion he creates new worlds and shapes purely from his imagination. He visualizes the eternal and everlasting forms of nature as an unreal world which leads to infinite 'dreamscapes'.

 

Eelco Brand¡¯s works are not just simple pictures or photographs. Using various computer programs and 3D animation techniques, he creates the most ideal nature. For him, the computer mouse becomes his brush, and the pixel become his paint. Every image is made by hand, by making traces of digital scratches on the screen, creating a new world from the state of nothingness, as a painter paints a masterpiece on an empty canvas. The image born with the computer is reborn by through photographic and digital processes, thus blurs the boundary between painting and photography.

 

The landscape Eelco Brand creates is unreal. He mimics the nature created by God and visualizes the imaginary landscape to his own visual world. According to the artist, the landscape we see doesn¡¯t actually exist; in reality it is just a collection of accidentally placed trees, hills, and rocks. It is in our mind where we translate this collection into a landscape. This trace of thought is similarly seen in Eelco Brand¡¯s working process; a collection of immaterial objects creating a visually captivating image. A New Day¡¯ is a media art by Eelco Brand, from the Netherlands. Through this film, Eelco Brand would like to express their gratitude for those who are present at the Summit and to meditate on the importance of The G20 Business Summit. Expressed by using the oriental concept, Meditation, from a western viewpoint by using a high-tech computer process in his media art is reflected a will of harmony and coexistence to overcome the economic crisis as well as to offer a bright future for our offspring. He would like to present you with a moment to clear your mind of all distractions and to consider the meaning of this Summit through watching this film, filled with the feeling of harmonious life.

 

Thanks to all the guests who have made an effort and flew here to attend the G20 Business Summit, to make a contribution in making a difference for realizing a stable and sustainable economic growth, a bright morning awaits us after a dark night. We hope that the result of this Summit will be a genial sunshine and spring rain for the new generation. We sincerely hope after receiving life¡¯s strong energy the earth will blossom and this ideal image we hope to achieve will be a symbol of hopeful future for us and for our offspring.
