About the Exhibition |
Bert Stern's Marilyn Monroe "The Last Sitting"
exhibition in Seoul is curated and organized by Gallery
Lumiere, and in collaboration with Chosun Press, it
is exhibited in the Chosun Press Museum. "The Lasting
Sitting" is a collection of photographs which encompasses
the images of Marilyn Monroe prior to 6 weeks of her
departure from this world (recaptured after 3 weeks)
by America's famous fashion photographer, Bert Stern.
By avoiding the application of thick make up and highlighting
the scar placed on her right-hand side of abdomen, the
processed shots enable us for the first time to meet
Marilyn Monroe as a woman, not as an actress.
The "The Last Sitting" was exhibited at Musee
Maillol in Paris at 2006 and it had resulted as an occasion
where memories of Marilyn Monroe had been brought to
life. The French acclaimed "Monroe has come to
Paris" and the exhibition was a great success with
20,000 people coming to see the show. This exceptional
exhibition has a limited availability, only offered
to the world's elite museum level exhibition centers.
The 60 works that are touring around the world have
been specially selected by the Bert Stern himself.

"The Last Sitting" |
Marilyn Monroe, the top female actress, also known
as the 'sexy' icon of the world was again filmed in
nude. In the nude photographs, Bert Stern has captured
not only her beauty but also her distress and her depression
without pretension. And regrettably, only after 3 weeks
since the film had been shot, Marilyn Monroe had left
this world, and at that specific time the 2,571 shots
that were taken is known as Marilyn Monroe's memorial
photography collection, "The Last Sitting".
"Liz Tailor was the model of classic beauty
and truly was beautiful. However, Marilyn Monroe was
like a fantasy, like a ghost. This is because picturing
her was like picturing her inner light." - Bert
Stern
